GOA Members Can Now Buy Any Suppressor Same-Day at Bauer Precision
If you are a Gun Owners of America member, every suppressor in our inventory just became available to you on a standard 4473.
No Form 4. No tax stamp. No months-long wait. Same day.
Here is what changed, how it works, and what you need to know.
What changed
Bauer Precision has been processing 4473 suppressor transfers since August 14, when the injunction in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF took effect. Initially, those transfers were limited to suppressors from named commercial plaintiffs in the lawsuit: SilencerCo, B&T USA, and Silencer Shop-sourced inventory.
The injunction also covers GOA members through associational standing. We are now extending our 4473 transfer process to all current and future GOA members. That removes the brand restriction entirely. If you are a GOA member, every suppressor we carry qualifies for same-day 4473 transfer, regardless of manufacturer.
Who qualifies
- Current GOA members. Your membership must be active at the time of purchase.
- Future GOA members. The injunction covers current and future members. If you join GOA and then come in to purchase, you are covered.
- Texas residents. You must have a valid Texas driver's license or Texas ID.
- Individual buyers. Trusts are not eligible. The GOA membership pathway applies to individual buyers only.
How the process works
- Email your GOA membership proof to nfa@bauer-precision.com. Send your membership card, a screenshot of your active membership status, or a confirmation email from GOA. We verify your membership before processing the transfer.
- Come to the store. This is an in-person transfer at our Denton location: 920 Dallas Dr, Ste 102, Denton, TX 76205.
- Bring your valid Texas driver's license or Texas ID. Same ID requirement as any firearm purchase.
- Make sure your name matches across all three documents. Your GOA membership, your Form 4473, and your Texas ID must all show the same name. If they do not match, we cannot process the transfer. Check your GOA membership profile and update it with GOA if needed before your visit.
- Pick your suppressor. Browse our full inventory. Every brand we carry is available to GOA members on a 4473.
- Complete the Form 4473. Standard ATF Form 4473, same as any firearm purchase. We run the NICS background check.
- Pass the background check. If you are clear, you are done.
Walk out with your suppressor. Same day. No Form 4. No tax stamp. No registration. No waiting.
What does NOT qualify
Even for GOA members, certain items remain outside the 4473 transfer pathway:
- Short-barreled rifles (SBRs) - The court struck down NFA registration for SBRs, but they remain separately regulated under the Gun Control Act of 1968. Form 4 is still required in all states. Do not assume the ruling means you can buy an SBR on a 4473.
- Short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) - Same as SBRs. Form 4 still required in all states.
- Any Other Weapons (AOWs) - Not part of our 4473 transfer process at this time.
- Machine guns and destructive devices - Completely unaffected. Full NFA process, $200 tax, no exceptions.
- Trust purchases - The GOA membership pathway applies to individual buyers only. Trusts still require Form 4.
Why GOA membership matters
The injunction in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF is party-specific. It covers named commercial plaintiffs (SilencerCo, B&T USA, Silencer Shop, and others) and members of named associational plaintiffs. Gun Owners of America is one of those associational plaintiffs.
For non-GOA customers, 4473 transfers are limited to suppressors from those named commercial plaintiffs. For GOA members, the associational standing extends coverage to all suppressor inventory. That is why GOA membership opens up the full catalog.
Is this permanent?
Honest answer: we do not know yet. The DOJ did not appeal by the August 12 stay deadline, but the DOJ still has time to appeal to the Fifth Circuit. The Fifth Circuit could grant a stay that puts the full NFA process back in effect. This is a developing legal situation.
It could last. It could also change. We are telling our customers to take advantage of it while it is here, and we will update this post if the legal landscape shifts.
What has not changed
- You still complete a Form 4473 and pass a NICS background check. Suppressors remain legally firearms under the Gun Control Act.
- State laws still apply in full. If your state bans suppressors or has its own NFA registration requirement, this federal ruling does not override that.
- Machine guns and destructive devices are fully regulated as always.
- SBRs and SBSs remain regulated under the Gun Control Act and are not part of the 4473 transfer pathway.
- FFL recordkeeping requirements remain in effect.
This is a significant expansion for GOA members, but it is not a free-for-all. We are operating carefully, within the scope of the injunction, and we expect our customers to do the same.
The bottom line
GOA member. Texas resident. Valid ID. Background check. Any suppressor we carry. Same day.

The Bauer Precision Team
This article describes a developing legal situation. Bauer Precision is operating within the scope of the federal court injunction in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF. GOA members are covered under the injunction through associational standing. This is not legal advice. State laws still apply. Trusts are not eligible for the 4473 transfer pathway. Federal firearms laws carry serious penalties. Consult qualified counsel for questions about your specific situation.
