NFA Reform Dropped: [OUTDATED SEE UPDATE]

Congress just handed NFA reform a major setback: the Senate parliamentarian removed critical Hearing Protection Act (HPA) and SHORT Act provisions from the famed “Big Beautiful Bill” under the Byrd Rule. This means suppressors, SBRs, and AOWs are not being deregulated or tax‐stamp exempted—at least for now.

What This Means for Suppressor Owners & Buyers

  • Regulations remain unchanged - NFA items still require Form 4 filings, fingerprinting, and a $200 Tax Stamp. The dream of treating suppressors like regular firearms is on hold.
  • Make NFA ownership visible. Getting suppressors and other items into the hands of law‑abiding Americans sends a political message: NFA items are mainstream, common use items, and deserve to be treated accordingly.
  • Protect future affordability. Buying now helps stabilize demand pipelines. When reforms pass, we’ll have a stronger base and prevent sudden boom‑and‑bust cycles.
  • Stay ready. As Firearms Policy Coalition pointed out, “This fight is not over. Keep pressuring the Senate…” The repeal effort hasn’t died, it just hit a procedural pause. Contact your senators and let them know we are not happy that this was dropped.

At Bauer Precision, we believe in proactively supporting Second Amendment freedoms. Now is the time - join the movement, equip yourself with quality suppressors, and help shape the future of NFA reform, protect your hearing and have a dang good time while doing it.
