The VOR-TX 8.6 BLK 200gr TAC-TX BT was purpose-built with one goal: become the go-to supersonic load for the 8.6 BLK.

Barnes has some history to build on. Fifteen years ago, Barnes worked alongside AAC and Remington Defense during the rise of the 300 AAC Blackout, developing the now-legendary 110gr TAC-TX and helping establish what high-performance supersonic ammunition could look like in the platform. When Q brought the 8.6 BLK to SAAMI and achieved standardization in early 2026, Barnes immediately went to work.

Collaborating with Q, Barnes engineered the 200gr TAC-TX specifically around the 8.6 BLK and the compact, short-barreled firearms that define the cartridge. Its optimized profile promotes flawless feeding while minimizing bearing surface to help maximize velocity. The result is devastating terminal performance even from compact platforms with barrels as short as 8 inches.

The internal cavity was tuned specifically for the 8.6 BLK and its unconventional 1:3 twist rate. From a 1:3 twist barrel, shooters can expect approximately 1.8X diameter expansion down to 1,400 fps. But expansion is only part of the story.

At typical hunting ranges, the 1:3 twist can rotate the 200gr TAC-TX at more than 500,000 RPM. Combine that extreme rotational velocity with four razor-sharp copper petals, and the result is an exceptionally aggressive wound cavity and the kind of terminal performance the 8.6 BLK was built to deliver.

The 200gr TAC-TX also performs well in 1:6 twist barrels, although expanded diameter may be slightly reduced and minimum expansion velocity slightly higher.
