Description
Bauer Precision is hosting its largest Demo Range Day to date: a full-day, live-fire showcase featuring four disruptive manufacturers: Layer X, Ridgeback Defense, Exigent Defense, and Irregular Defense. Each of these brands has emerged in the last few years with limited legacy name recognition but rapid momentum, driven by aggressive engineering, modern manufacturing methods, and a willingness to challenge how suppressors, weapon accessories, and hard-use gear are built and presented.
The format is simple: get hands-on time behind the products, speak directly with the people who build them, and make informed decisions based on real performance, not gun internet guru hearsay.
The day closes with an optional cigar social at Denton Cigar Company, where guests can continue the conversation over cigars and cocktails and discuss both brand philosophy and the current state of the suppressor market. (21+ for the evening session.)
Featured Brands
Layer X
Layer X will be on the line with the STRAKE9, a titanium DMLS 9mm suppressor built specifically around MP5-style roller-delayed systems and modern pistol caliber carbines. It’s lightweight (around 8.5 oz without mount), uses a common 1.375-24 HUB interface for mounting flexibility, is full-auto rated for 9mm and subsonic .300 BLK, and is finished in a low IR signature coating. The core focus is controllable tone, smooth cycling, and reduced blowback on PCC hosts.
Ridgeback Defense
Ridgeback Defense specializes in rifle- and PCC-rated suppressors designed for duty use. Their Rhino-series cans are built using additive manufacturing (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) in materials like Inconel, titanium, Haynes 282, and 17-4, paired with HUB 1.375x24 mounts for cross-platform compatibility. The design intent is high durability under sustained fire, strong sound performance, and controllable gas/backpressure, including under night vision and short-barrel conditions.
Exigent Defense
Exigent Defense positions itself as “over built under budget,” delivering duty-grade suppressors that lean on monolithic, laser-sintered cores in high-strength alloys like 718 Inconel and Grade 5 Titanium. The goal is to bring law-enforcement/military performance, high durability, reduced back pressure, lowered gas blowback, to the commercial buyer at an approachable cost. Their lineup includes rifle cans such as the OVERWATCH762, a HUB-threaded (1.375x24) titanium DMLS suppressor rated for calibers like 7.62 NATO, .308, and even 6.5 Creedmoor, at around 10 oz of weight.
Irregular Defense
Irregular Defense and its related Irregular/SC Irregulars design house operate with a “Non-Standard Equipment, Built to Exacting Standards” mindset: American-made components, hard-use accessories (grips, slings, packs), and limited collaborations that merge technical function and brand identity. The company positions itself at the intersection of hard-use firearms culture, moto, and lifestyle aesthetic, with an emphasis on U.S. manufacturing, purpose-built gear, and a refusal to dilute identity for mass appeal.
